I'm not the polished guy with the perfect testimony. I've made my own mistakes and carried my own mess, and for a long stretch I was sure that disqualified me from the one thing I couldn't stop doing — making music that means something.
I'm Blake Reynolds. My faith and my music both grew up in church, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise — but I don't want people to see church when they look at me. I want them to see Jesus. There's a difference, and it's the whole reason I do this.
Somewhere along the way the faith I'd built everything on went quiet on me. I kept singing words I wasn't sure I believed anymore. That season nearly ended me — and it's also where the real songs started coming from. I don't write from the mountaintop. I write from the climb back up.
That's who this music is for: the broken, the outcasts, the ones who figure they're too far gone. Not the people who have it all together — the ones in the middle of the fight.
